Bread Baker's Apprentice - Atlanta, Georgia

La Calavera Bakery is seeking a bread baker's apprentice. This person will learn all aspects of the from-scratch bread making process with the goal of becoming a regular employee at the bakery.

Candidates must:

  • have at least a couple years' experience of some type/part of bread production
  • be able to lift 75 lbs
  • be able to follow detailed instructions
  • understand that regardless of past experience, product must be executed consistently to our standards
  • have reliable transportation
  • understand that making bread this way is hard but rewarding work. Really. It's hard, it takes time and patience, but we have successfully trained and taught others to make great bread and need to add to our team, so let's work hard together to make the best bread Atlanta has ever had!


Compensation will be based on experience/ability.

Summer Bread Baking Internship - Manhattan, New York


June - August

We are looking for a worker to learn and then work in all stations of the bread baking: mixing, shaping and baking, preparing rustic pastries for next day's bake.  In short, all aspects of artisanal baking.  We are a small, highly respected, award-winning artisan bakery on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. 

After training in how we do things (each bakery has it's own style), you will replace bakers on their shift as they take vacation.  Internship is unpaid, actual working schedule is paid.  It is a great opportunity to have real hands-on training in a busy, successful and supportive environment.  Last summer, our summer baker, who had majored in pastry, learned so much she felt confident about opening her own bakery!
